In this design study, I chose to create a fictional clothing brand. In my opinion and experience, true brand loyalty is achieved with not merely the offered product, but the connection to the story being told. In this case, I was researching and came across a compelling story of self-expression within the hip hop community.
When rapper Cam'ron wore an all pink outfit at Fashion Week in 2002, it disrupted the intimidating and exclusive masculinity of Hip Hop.
Nearly two decades later, the colour pink continues to stand for self expression, boldness, and a sense of pioneering in the male-dominated genre.
The concept of bridging this iconic moment with the visuals of customary sheet music tells a story of breaking tradition, being true to yourself, and ultimately fighting toxic masculinity.

Throughout this design study, I will need to develop assets that visually reflect the story of Hale Pink. I also acknowledge that with such focus on a backstory, the assets I design may be text heavy and will need to have impeccably planned layouts.
I utilized a pink monochromatic colour scheme to serve the brand's message of harmony and modernity. The typeface selected also communicates a friendliness by way of its roundness.
